Credit Card Balance Transfers: Why 0.00% isn't Always the Best Deal.

Credit Card Balance Transfers: 2.99% can be cheaper than 0.00%...really!

CREDIT CARD BALANCE TRANSFERS: Why 0.00% isn't Always the Best Deal.!

Credit card debt has never been higher for American consumers. Though credit cards can provide a quick, convenient way of paying for the things you want, there are times when the balance creeps much higher than what you anticipated. When seeking relief from credit card debt, you have a few options. One of the most common is a Balance Transfer. A Balance Transfer is when you take debt from one credit card and transfer it to another credit card, usually at a lower rate and many times with a special rate!

At CSE, our goal is to Save You Money - with an always low-rate credit card, with NO Annual Fee and NO Balance Transfer fee. If you search the marketplace, you will find some card issuers have a 0% special transfer rate, but look at the fine print. Generally, there is a 3% or higher Balance Transfer fee. What does this mean? It’s simple: when you complete a Balance Transfer, the card issuer will add the fee to your balance.

Let’s compare CSE's current Visa Balance Transfer special - at 2.99% APR1 for 12 months with NO Balance Transfer fee vs. a card with a 0% APR for 12 months with a 3% Balance Transfer fee. We will make an assumption that the cardholders are making $100 payments per month for the duration of the 12-month promotional period.

1. APR = Annual Percentage Rate. The 2.99% APR rate is a promotional rate. It is good only on balance transfers made from January 20th through May 19th, 2021 by new or existing cardholders. The promotional rate of 2.99% APR is applied for 12 consecutive billing cycles from the date of the balance transfer unless the account becomes delinquent and/or over the limit. After the 12 billing cycles, the rate will revert back to the standard fixed rate for purchases and/or balance transfers between 8.25% APR and 18.00% APR depending on your creditworthiness at the time of account opening. This offer is a limited time offer and can be changed or discontinued without notice.
